Extra! Extra! Read All About Your Ancestors in Newspapers
November 21, 2024 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm EST
$25.00
Newspapers publish rich and intimate details about our ancestors. Documenting death, conflict, hobbies, politics, travel, or more, they provide information often not found elsewhere. Myriad digitization projects will be examined. With some digging, we can find material regarding our 18th-20th century ancestors and families and sometimes our immigrant ancestors in their homeland – I love trying to dig out nuggets about my Finnish ancestors, and I’m often successful. Sometimes, though, a newspaper is not digitized (aka Oldham (UK) Observer), and we are frustrated, but compared to just a few years ago, we have so many options at our fingertips, accessible from home 24/7. Newspapers always provide us with information and details found nowhere else (unless your ancestor kept a diary). You will never regret exploring newspapers, and in my experience, surprises always await us.
